Originated by Frank Sawyer, the Pheasant Tail has been modified by Montana’s Al Troth to incorporate the deadly Peacock herl. The Pheasant Tail represents beatis nymphs abundant in many river systems. You can add a metal bead, a Mercury bead, and/or Flashback to the fly to change up the look of the fly. The Loop Wing Pheasant tail imitates an emerging mayfly.
