Some drift along the bottom for many yards before they rise. This is a productive pattern during the earliest stages of the hatch. It can be fished close to the bottom very much like caddis larva and other nymphs. These flies can be fished down and across the current, under light tension to simulate the pupa rising to the surface.
</oembed>
